No Ken, not me! I was in the Galloway episode handling pine marten kits and tracking with my dog – Wilderness Walks number 4. It was a highlight for me as it showed a little bit of what we’ve achieved in 13 year of marten conservation in that area. The work goes on…..

Oh, not too many mince pies – too many can be bad for your health. 😉

Thanks Ken – it wasn;t a very serious request for an ID – I know its impossible from a photo usually! But it is exactly as I said – if I’m on the floor doing one thing, 10 to 1 I’ll see something else that will take my attention even if I can;t name it!

Lovely to meet you at last Ken! Thats one of the extra nice things about going back on the lecture round – Wabbers are often members of their local societies and make themselves known on the night! There’s never long enough to chat though – thats the pity. I’m hoping ChrisJB is going to appear at my date in Rochdale in December! Xxx

Whilst I do twitch from time to time (when the missus allows!), Sunday’s trip was one of our many seasonal annual events, taking in Strid Wood, Hellifield Flash, Barbondale, Foulshaw Moss and usually Leighton Moss. Sadly, for the second year in a row, no wood warblers at Strid Wood.

Alas no time for a swift one in the Barbon Inn Ken. On these birding days my companions are not ones for hanging about! Saying that, for ages I have a had a walk planned in my head, to do Calf Top (on the west side of Barbondale). I hope to get round to doing it this summer and then I’ll have my pint for sure.

Hard to say her age really Ken. She had a hat on but it looked like she had a bit of grey hair poking out of it. She was slim and I think she had glasses on (my memory is shocking these days). She had a ‘scope too. I have seen her before at Castleshaw and she seemed clued up on the local bird scene. She also knew another pal of mine who lives in Shaw and is a Crompton Moor regular (my pal).

I was talking to a lass who knew you, yesterday Ken. We were both watching a pair of garganey, near Wildhouse Lane. Unfortunately I didn’t catch her name, but she seemed a very keen and knowledgeable bird-watcher.
