Hi,
I saw this fly last July in Lincolnshire, which I assumed to be a hoverfly. I’ve looked through my hoverfly book and failed to match the colour pattern and shape of this fly using the plates. I still guess it is a hoverfly and I’m just overlooking the correct match, but with it being unusually marked and shaped I hold a little doubt. Any ID help would be appreciated.
