Description: 

An occasional species that is found in deciduous woodland, commonly with Beech or Birch.

Distribution: 

Occasional during Autumn.

Habitat: 

Deciduous woodland usually with Birch and Beech.

Cap: 

Yellow, with a brighter centre to cap, convex the expanded with age to slightly umbonate, extremely viscid.

Flesh: 

Yellowish in the cap and whitish in the stem and tinged violaceous throughout, especially in young specimens. Tastes mild but often with a bitter aftertaste.

Gills: 

Free or adnate, violaceous, turning yellow then clay or cinnamon coloured.

Spores: 

Spore print - rust.

Stem: 

White, pale lilac apex, tinged yellow by the slimy veil up to the cortinal zone, slightly swollen at the base and covered in white down.
