Whitethroat

Description

The Whitethroat is larger than the Lesser Whitethroat, being about the same siza as a Great Tit. Both sexes have chestnut brown wings similat to a House Sparrow and a grey mantle, pink buff breast, a white belly and as it's name suggests, a white throat. The tail is bordered with white. The difference between the sexes is that the male has a grey crown, nape and ear coverts while the hen is brown.

Diet

During the breeding season they will eat mainly insects, especially bugs, caterpillars and beetles but towards the end of summer they turn increasingly towards berries for food.
