Description: 

This is a widely eaten fungus that grows on deciduous wood in large clusters from Autumn to Spring and can survive hard frosts.

Distribution: 

Occasional to common.

Habitat: 

Found in clusters on broadleaf trees, especially Willow and Elm. It prefers decaying wood or old, standing trees.

Additional Notes: 

Growing here on a dead elm, with the 'bootlaces' of an Armillaria clearly visible
