Description: 

A large violet and white irregularly shaped cup that i s found growing in braodleaf woodland either singly or clustered, favouring Beech, occasionally founf with conifers.

Distribution: 

Rare but locally more abundant.

Habitat: 

In broadleaf and occasionally coniferous woodland.

Cap: 

The fruitbody has an upper (hymenial) surface that is smooth, violaceous and either pallid or with a brownish tinge. The outer surface is whitish with grey tinges and is slightly roughened. 

Flesh: 

White, thish and briittle.
