This model features a sliding center column which is removable, so that it can be inverted, making a more versatile tripod. Sherpa 600R has a choice of 3 leg angles, allowing the tripod to be operated with maximum stability and giving low level capabilities-down to just 29cm. Other features include a splittable center column to allow near ground level operation and PH-157Q 3-way panhead with Velbon's quick release system and one touch locking of pan and tilt actions.

Weaknesses:
none
My old tripod finally fell to pieces after over 20 years of loyal service so I needed to replace it with something that I thought would stand the test of time and rigourous outdoor use.
A couple of my friends had been using this model of tripod for over a year with large DSLR's and Bigmas and were always singing its praises, so I took the plunge and bought one.
I can now say without reservation that it is a fantastic bit of gear for the money.
Its solid, well made and is incredibly rigid and firm. The leg clips are well made and have a very nice positive action.
The PHQ-157 quick release, three way head that comes as standard on this tripod is so nice to use, all angles covered by simply slackening and tightening one control, this makes it incredibly quick to reposition and get that image before your target moves!
This tripod has legs that alter to three different positions and a centre coloumn that takes in half allowing you to get down to a staggering 29cm off the floor, handy for macro work etc....
I'm going to be using it for my spotting scope, I have no reservations about this as I know that this is a very stable tripod, and is not too heavy to carry around all day.
I would recommend anyone wanting a good, no nonsense, well made tripod to have a good look at this model before spending large amounts of cash on other brands, I think you will be pleasantly suprised.
