Developed as the result of PENTAX’s pursuit of higher-quality, finer-resolution digital images, the K10D combines 10.2 effective megapixels with an array of advanced features and a series of improvements at every stage of digital SLR photography. PENTAX believes that, while some of these technologies and improvements may not be actually reflected in the product’s specifications, they do make a significant difference in the final images. Important features include the PENTAX-developed Shake Reduction (SR) system to minimize the adverse effects of camera shake, a newly developed A/D converter designed to convert a large volume of data more faithfully and swiftly, and a new high-performance imaging engine designed exclusively for the K10D.
The K10D also comes equipped with a host of features and functions designed to assist the photographer in various aspects of high-quality digital SLR photography. They include a new Dust Removal (DR) system to keep dust off the CCD surface, a PENTAX-original exposure system for faithful reproduction of the photographer’s creative intentions, and a dependable dust-resistant, weather-resistant body construction. All combined, the K10D delivers exceptionally high image quality and responds brilliantly to the exacting demands of advanced photographers.

Strengths:
Great for in camera shake reduction
Weaknesses:
This camera feels solid, even the built in flash opens and shuts with a solid sound and I would have no hesitation in using it in the rain due to the seals.
The shake reduction even works with my old pre-set 500 mm f4.5 lens. I just dial in the size of the lens to set up the anti shake. All of my 35mm Pentax fit auto focus lenses automatically set up the shake reduction.
Don't need to buy expensive lenses with built in shake reduction.
I tried it on a bird watching boat trip the other weekend from Boston and around the Wash any vibration from the engines or swell were dampened (no sign of shake).
The kit lens is reasonably sharp on par with Canons and Nikons.

Strengths:
Price, built-in anti-shake,weather/dust seals, old lenses fit.
Weaknesses:
Lack of long lenses
When you pick up this camera it feels solid and is comfortable in hand. I have been using this camera for over 12 months now and have found it a joy to use. The one draw-back is the lack of long telephote lenses available in the Pentax range however there is a DA* 300mm F4 lens which is on the horizon, and the K10D is compatible with all the old Pentax lenses which are quite common on E-Bay.
The built-in anti-shake is a real plus point meaning the lenses should be cheaper to produce than other makes that have the anti-shake (IS,VR) built into the lens. The anti-shake definitely works, I can handhold a 300mm lens at 1/125th sec no problem and even slower sometimes.
The auto-iso setting is a real help especially when it is so easy to over-ride the auto setting with the front dial.
I have been using the K10D with a Sigma 100-300mm EX F4 lens and have been very pleased with the results.
I can't wait for the DA* 300mm F4 to be released!
