Description:
Digital SLRs have taken the world of photography by storm and professional wildlife photographer Andy Rouse explains all that you need to know in order to get to grips with them.
From the Author
I wrote this book to help the many photographers who are struggling with using a DSLR. Too many photographers try to make the subject of using a DSLR sound difficult, with acronyms and meaningless techo babble. Using a DSLR is very very easy, and most of it is common sense. Therefore this guide just sets out what you need to know and leaves out all the rest. It is basically what I do to get my images that sell around the world, all of which have been taken on a DSLR for the past three years. Of course this book is not for everyone as techno heads will find out , everyone else - enjoy !

Strengths:
very readable and non technical
Weaknesses:
may be a bit simple for experienced users
This is a great book to read if you are new to the DSLR - everything is explained in simple terms free of techno babble and it is not in the least geeky. Mr Rouse clearly has a good grip on what is needed in the field and equally importantly what is not.
I have two copies the hard back kept at home and an increasingly dog eared paperback version which lives in my camera bag for in the field refference.
If you only buy one book about DSLR photography buy this one

Strengths:
Excellent Read No Techno Stuff Informative
Weaknesses:
None for new to DSLR
Being a complete novice to DSLR,Canon EOS 400d (only ever used previous camera Fuji S5000 in auto mode.)
I found this book excellent, no techno stuff all written in plain English.
A lot of advice given by the Author, regarding all aspects of a DSLR camera and how it works.
He tells you how he and other photographers prepare for a shot and offers tips on shutter speed aperture settings, and other settings to alter to enable novices to attempt to obtain
the best photo. Also detailed descriptions of the various formats Jpeg raw Tiff.
This book covers for the novice, The camera workings, right through to the whole process
of taking digital photographs
Throughout the book he advises to use his guide lines and experiment.
Just one point I would like to make, I read the book, but I am going to read again, along
with the Camera Manual and Camera, so I can find how to access the various settings and get to know the Camera.
