Pentax Papilio 8.5x21 Close up Binoculars - Description:
Named for the Latin word for butterfly, PENTAX Papilio 8.5x21 binoculars are the perfect choice for insect observation in the field and in museums and galleries. The enhanced observation capability of the Papilio binoculars is made possible by a PENTAX Convergent Lens Optical System Engineering (CLOSE) mechanism. The CLOSE mechanism automatically slides the left and right objective lenses toward the center when the focus is fixed at a short distance.

Strengths:
Superb close up image. Light and compact.
Weaknesses:
Not really suitable for distance use.
I bought these for my wife to use to help see damselflies and other insect life clearly. For their intended use they are superb. The image is clear and bright and will focus down to 1.6ft. You can use them for general use, although the image will not match the performance of top quality Binoculars when viewing distant objects.
For their intended use they are highly recommended.
