I purchased a 28-135 IS for event photography and have found it to be an excellent bit of kit for candids, crowd scenes , and gigs and also for use in lifestyle and portrait photography.
I find the focussing to be fast and accurate and whisper quiet and the image stabilisation is very useful when shooting action in low light environments , particularly if you are working from the crowd or in a crowded photo pit
Although I didnt buy it specifically for nature photography it has become my favorite short zoom and lives on the front of one of my bodys full time , thus i have used it extensively for deer and also for seabirds and I have found that it performs as well in this field as it does in the events scene - I have also had good results using it with a 24mm ext tube for dragon flies
Another winner from canon , crisp , sharp, well bult and worth every penny
