Wilone,
It's a hoverfly! Off top of my head I'd say it's probably Eristalis tenax,but I have no book with me so cannot be certain. We also get that same species in New Zealand where I come from.It's commonly known as Drone Fly over here in Britain.. Notice how it only has 2 wings? That immediately puts it in the order Diptera,( di-two ptera-wing),and flies are in the order Diptera.
