a nice shot Carl. It's funny, I took an almost identical shot yesterday of a Darter on gravel!



I think this is a Common Darter though isn't it?

The tips on the wings were red - hence my assumption, isn't the common brown tipped? Will bow to better judgement though.

Great image Carl - its a male Common Darter, I've altered the image ID to match.



The biggest giveaway as to its identity is the yellow stripes on the legs.

Only my first summer really getting to know these beautiful creatures. It was really vivid red in the light, but even on the id sheet I have, the difference looks minimal. Am still surprised at how tiny these fellas are!
