This butterfly is a male Northern Brown Argus. The scientific name for this butterfly is Aricia artaxerxes salmacis. These were photographed in Co. Durham. This one is sitting on blue moor grass which is found typically on the magnesium limestone grassland this butterfly inhabits in the north east of England.
