Male Duke from North Lancashire 18.05.2005. There has been a bit of management work done at the NNR it occurs on, but sadly never manage to see more than a handfull. Males sit perched waiting for passing females, so they can be quite easy to locate & photograph.

Thanks all for the kind coments and yes Cherrybee, this is quite a rare species which has declined nationally. If you live in the south of the country, you may live near a nature reserve that has plenty of cowslips and hawthorn scrub, best time to look is spring.
