Great image Bruce, I guess the wasp laid the egg whilst the ladybird was still in the larval stage.

Mike and Heath - Thank you for your encouraging comments - much appreciated. Interesting point Heath, however from what I've read the wasp injects her egg into the adult ladybird. Hmmm...I wonder if an egg injected into a larva could survive the process of pupation and subsequent metamorphosis into adult???
