These natural snowballs up to 300 mm in diameter have been formed by the wind, rolling them along the snow covered ground for up to 4 metres.

The image was taken on the flat flood plain fields of the River Lune east of Tebay.

Brilliant image , a crisp, clean, winter landscape, the naturally formed snowballs are great, i have never heard of this a winter version of tumble-weed
