Thanks Jon and Stu - it was a Leighton Moss Stu - this one is on the grit trays half way down the causeway to the public hide (during the morning) - the others were in front of the Lower Hide (during the afternoon). In all these years of going to LM I have never seen this amount of beardies before - ever!

Lovely shots, Pauline. Never seen one in the flesh and the alternative name is new to me as well.
I spent Wednesday evening with Cordless Dave looking at this recent shots from the Kruger National Park - very enjoyable, as was the South African wine to go with it.
Afterwards, he asked me what my bird photography ambitions were. These included to be below a hovering kestrel in the sun, waxwings, definitive kingfisher, redwing and fieldfare (all very shy); and, lastly, the bearded tit.
At least seeing your shots, I have 'secondhand' views of one of these.

Thanks Daffy66 and Colin - and Col you've made me smile cos yoour list is also mine - maybe we will both work thro it back to front so to speak as its the right time for fieldfare and redwing! Hope you don't have to wait 38+ years tho for the beardies!!!!!
