Thanks John and Ollie..This was the last shot of a very good day.. I was waiting by my car when the thrush arrived about 10 yards away..just one of those rare lucky days..

Hi glsammy are you sure this is a song thrush on first glance I thought this was a mistle thrush and after consulting a bird book i still think its a mistle thrush. At the end of all of its feather tips there apears to be white lines, this is a feature of Mistle Thrush these do not occur on Song Thrushes. By the way nice shot!!

Thanks Fergus, as for ID, I'm never sure! I thought the slight reddening under the wing looked like song, the larger spots look like Mistle, yikes! I really need to see the back of the bird to see if it's grey or brown...It's so difficult in isolation... I'll take a vote on it..
