This attractively-patterned barkfly is rarely recorded. This may be due just a few people who actively seek them out, or the way it's often found on walls whereas most barkflies are looked out for in trees and bushes. It may still be rare, but with barkflies in general they are under-recorded. That is to say, the casual observer has just as good a chance of making a good discovery as the seasoned recorder.
