I under-exposed this to try not to blow the white bits but I over did it a bit. It still looks ok until you zoom in a bit. Don't know how long he/she has been flying around with the feather out of place though.

I'm so impresed I'm back again - the background as well as the position of the bird make what could have been an 'ordinary' kingfisher shot into something rather special...........

Cheers everyone. I did think about editing the feather out but decided against in the end. The Kingfishers have now started to hop between the perch I installed and this one. Both are bang in front of the hide. Both have water in the background and the light reflects differently due to the different angles so you get some variety. I know how frustrating it can be trying to get Kingfisher shots so I suppose I am being spoiled at the moment. Once they land and settle it is very easy to get good results.

I like the shot Billy and the feather is great,nature has its faults...so a Kingfisher is entitled to a bad feather day!!! Why not. Great shot.
