This bird has nested in Dunham Massey NT park within feet of the concrete pool edge where hundreds - if not thousands of folk walk yet she has fledged 4 young! I sat around the pond for 5 or 6 hours and watched the parent birds feeding and defending the young against the coots and moorhens! The old flattened nest is no longer capable of holding 5 birds and I smiled when she climbed on it for a rest and the youngster nearest the back began sliding off!

Thanks ClanChief and BillyPilgrim - and yes it did but I had also enjoyed watching and taking loads of pics throughout the afternoon of various antics and behaviour as the family moved around the pool catching fish and feeding the little ones. Despite the others being decent enough pics - this one stood out as worth putting up!
