This bird has nested in Dunham Massey NT park within feet of the concrete pool edge where hundreds - if not thousands of folk walk yet she has fledged 4 young! I sat around the pond for 5 or 6 hours and watched the parent birds feeding and defending the young against the coots and moorhens! The old flattened nest is no longer capable of holding 5 birds and I smiled when she climbed on it for a rest and the youngster nearest the back began sliding off!
