Excellent John! I haven't searched but I bet there aren't many mole photos in the gallery let alone ones of the quality of these two.

I've only ever seen a mole once in my life, when I was 11 or 12 and the poor thing was dead.

nicely captured John, like Dave I've only ever seen a dead one. It makes me wonder whether this individual was OK - maybe very hungry?

Thanks Dave.

It was sheer luck that someone came in to tell us one was outside the centre .... There's hundreds in the cricket ground!

It remained hidden under leaves for a while but eventually popped out to have a stroll From about 50 rapiid shots I got about 4 that were OK! The Nikon + sigma 105 proved useless ... which was odd! but the powershot G9 images were fine.

You might be right about it being a first. It certainly was for me

Thanks Matt. I think it was a little confused. There can't be too many worms in the Conservation Centre ;-)

Very nice shots - I've seen moles on the surface before but never when I'm carrying a camera, there's a moral there somewhere!

Oh wow, just seen this, how cute! I've only seen a dead one years ago that our local Durham YOC leader had stuffed.

Good capture. I have never seen a mole above ground when I had a camera to hand. In the West Wight, there is a cycle path (ex railway) between Yarmouth & Freshwater where moley can often be seen & heard rooting through the leaf litter for worms on mild winter days. They can be quite amusing to watch as the feet seem to almost trip them as they barrell along.

Yup,they cute!

Amazing creatures. Completely solitary they hate other moles can have territory measuring up tp 1/4 Acre and they patrol the tunnels (worm traps) on a 4 hour on 4 hour off shift pattern. awesome little slabs of digging muscle.
