Two males clearly showing the rose ring that gives this species one of its names. This is a shot from last Spring but the birds are present all the year round in my garden with sometimes as many as 12 birds on the various feeders. They are very noisy, aggressive and destructive and drive away all other would-be feeders. They are spectacular visitors but I wish they would go back home!
