Hi ollyk, it's most probably Panorpa communis but a dorsal shot would be much better for ID. Do you have another one of the same animal (can be out of focus etc) - maybe PM or e-mail me.

P.S. The long calipers on the tail in combination with the wing pattern in another image Olly linked in a PM make this a Panorpa communis (the extra image is/was here but might not remain there?).
