Sessile Oak - Quercus petraea The term sessile refers to the acorns which are stalkless,unlike the leaves. The acorns ripen in September. The English Oak and the Sessile Oak are the only oaks native to Britain. Sessile oaks are to be found mainly in the north of Britain.
