Hoopoe Upupa epops

A fairly regular visitor to Britain allthough not that many. mainly found in the Mediterranean region.

I was watching this bird just outside of Northampton today in a small place called Ecton Brook.

I love these birds as they are so full of character and they a smart looking birds as well.

I once had a Hoopoe that was given to me by someone as a pet in the state of Iran and I tried feeding it bread and the bird wouldn't eat as I had it for only a short time before it died the next day as it was found in a room dead being eaten by ants. I felt sorry for the poor bird being in captivity as I wanted to let it go free in a woodland or forest as in the case there was none

A lovely shot, John. Never seen one in the wild. I bet the one fate had me lined up to photograph, Foxe killed!
