Lovely shot. But isn't this a Common Gull? Shorter, neater bill and rounded head with a "non-aggressive" face; marks on both upper and lower mandibles; a slightly darker shade of grey on the mantle and wing coverts; red orbital ring to the eye. I can't see the legs, but I suspect they are greenish in colour.

I'm convinced Common Gull it is, but add in winter plumage head speckled brown. Thanks for looking Howard. Will have it renamed.
