Excellent image Tobyh! great detail in the eye. What is the little orange coloured half moon between the eyes. (excuse my ignorance.)

Thanks for the comments Fisher. I have to admit I don't actually know. I think it's part of the eye in some way but not sure how. Someone will know I'm sure and will enlighten us.

Checked the WEB Tobyh on the anatomy of the dragonfly's head it is the OCELLI the simple eyes between the large compound eyes the diagram shows three Ocelli (OCELLUS). So you were correct in assuming they were part of the eye.
