A great couple of pics Graham, they're stunning birds aren't they! I've got a place where I can guarantee you'll see them, but it's very hard to get a decent pic because of the darkness under the trees. Winter only shooting!

I've seen them but never managed a shot anywhere near as good as these two. Great images Graham

Two brilliant images of a Nuthatch Graham. Like jdoherty, I've never seen one. Certainly a very colourful little bird.

Thanks for all your comments.

As Alan said, difficult to get. I had to use ISO 800 for these, and could still only manage 1/100sec @F6.3. Hence the narrow DOF.

This bird was directly under trees and the green background is also tree foliage.

I was shooting from my car, using the window ledge for support and my angle finder.

A couple of great pics Graham, I've never seen one of these beauties, I hope it won't be long as they are moving up the country(I think you get them near Edinburgh but they aren't here...yet) Once again great shots.

Thanks Fergus, Fisher and Lancastrian. Much appreciated.

I'm lucky with a couple of places I can guarantee to see them, together with tree creepers, which I also tried to get a good shot, but failed yet again.
