Yeah I was pleased with these ones. I dropped the flash down several points below the default, and also reduced the exposure setting to -2/3rd to preserve some colour depth. In the processing I upped the midtone slightly and darkened the shadow a touch to build up contrast.

They're fine with the flash. It doesn't seem to bother them at all, though occasionally they squint (fair enough). The main drawback is that it can cause red-eye (which in the case of foxes is either white or bright blue!). I try and avoid that by angling the camera slightly if they're close up (or sorting it out with a red-eye filter later). Distant shots are more of a problem, but overall I'm getting better at avoiding it.
