26th July 2012. The granite forming these cliffs is much younger than the granite of Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor (Carboniferous), being Tertiary in age.

Cheers folks. Lundy was tremendous, though I recommend you stay at least one night if possible. I went for the day and only had four hours on the island. I was desperate to get to the more dramatic western side, then work my way along the cliffs, to the lighthouse at the northern tip - a return trip of seven miles. Carrying all my gear, including a telescope, I just about did it and made it back in time for a swift one in the island's pub too. The boat trip from Ilfracombe is good too. I was fortunate to see Manx shearwaters, puffins, gannets, common dolphins and harbour porpoises.
