A very tactile image (if there is such a thing) when viewed at higher resolution. You can so easily imagine just what that larval body would feel like to touch.

Great shot, these are surprisingly large, didn't realise they were about this time of the year, last time I saw these was in September!

Thanks Pauline. This was another first and found whilst doing some butterfly conservation work at one of the butterfly reserves in Dorset.
