A brief period of sunlight and the little pond was a hive of activity - these darters are extremely mobile and very easily spooked - you only have to think about taking a photo and they're off!

Thanks Jules, Roger and Wayne: funny really that folks like this shot cos I'm not that taken with it - I like to get a decent background out of focus and its just not possible with these ... unless I can find one that is cold and slow and that shouldn't be difficult up here just now (and wet too for good measure) flaming June!!!!!

I can see it would certainly be possible to improve on the background, but in the meantime - wow! You got the insect and you got it beautifully crisp.
