Carn Gwr the Welsh name meaning Man Cairn, presumably because, like an Inuit inuksuk, the upright stone resembles a human form. The pass just to the west of the cairn is called Bwlch Ungwr, One Man Pass. To the right of the photo on the horizon is the large rocky outcrop Carn Menyn (thought to be where the Bluestone's of the inner circle of Stonehenge came from) and the hill to left in the distance (middle of photo) is Foel Drygarn Hill Fort. |
