What a grandstand view this is ... watching he/she eating, resting, defecating and then fetching 'branches' to build up the nest ...

Superb Pauline.

It seems you all have had a great time, getting several fabulous shots along the way.

Thanks guys - it may not look like it but I struggled to 'extract' this shot from what I had got - its taken a bit of manouvering in PSP and some judicious cropping to get this to have 'impact' ... I was nowhere near that nest and thats the truth!

The nest is in a tree on an island - but its like saying from our house to the neighbours opposite, normal width road, two pavements and two garden/parking spaces - so you are not underneath it by any means! The angle the bird was flying, the degree of looking up from the river bank and some careful cropping gives the impression its landing in your lap!! PSP is a marvellous thing!!! And btw thanks for the comments and encouragement!

I'm shocked, like moaner said, Wow Lass, that is a stunning image, despite the hard work, surely you are happy with this outcome???

Yes thanks Steve - more than happy with this one! It looks so misleading as tho I was stood underneath the nest which of course I wasn't but thats what a bit of cropping can do and cutting a wing off so that the rest of the bird is clear and sharp is sometimes the only way to add impact. We have yet to go and check this nest (despite being here a week!) but we bumped into Gordon (Spehghillie) in Tesco a couple of nights ago and he said this nest had failed - this pair haven't laid eggs despite all this nest tidying we watched by one bird - we didn't see a mate before coming home last time ...
