Hi Jean
Try comparing your specimens with images of both chanterelle and false chanterelle. Although they look similar at first glance, there are clear differences. Look at the thickness of each gill and the cap texture, for example. Also the colour and shape of the stem. Habitat is also a good clue. This is Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca.

Hi Ken
Many thanks, all good information for future reference...growing on needle litter and displaying true gills not false. I do wish there was a way of changing the title of a wrong I.D...we 'newbies' do make silly mistakes like this!!
