Thanks Joan, I wish I could have got a better shot of the tree and I've never seen a tree 'bleeding' like this before, it was really thick and gloopy. Couldn't give it a hug because of the steep bank and as it was almost in the water...I'd have joined it! I did give it a gentle pat though. As for a bandage, I think I could have done with it as just after this shot I was bitten by a goose! There is an Irish saying..it's unlucky to pass an Alder tree..............
