Summer nests are woven with living grass stems and are difficult to see at that time of year.



During the winter months the empty nests are easier to spot in the dead grass stems. New nests are built for each successive litter.

I've never seen one in the wild. We had a tank ful at Haigh and it was my job to look after them and clean the tank .... I kept wanting to release them .....
