Found in grass at the edge of a wood in the New forest. It was almost dark and this was the best I could do without a flash.

Oh Wow Dave. This will attract a few comments from 'all' those of us who have never seen this 'classic'. Well captured!

I was out with the dog (no camera) at 4pm when I saw a little white egg. it looked like a small stinkhorn egg. Then I saw this close by. I rushed back home and grabbed the camera and managed a few shots in the twighlight. At least there's another one about to hatch I'll check back there.

Never seen or heard of this species. Presumably a rarity and what a fantastic sight.

"Fabulous - wish it would 'move' north!" - I'll second that!!

But then again we've got some of our own rarities up here.

Great photo of a superb find, Dave. - Regards, Mike.

Thanks all. I went back today and counted 6 more eggs. I have to go away early in the morning for 5 days so I think I'll probably miss the others coming out.

Great photo well done cos I know how hard it is to get a shot of this if it is the same specimens I found last year it is so dark area. Either that or we have lots in the New Forest hehe we can rub it in to the northerners!!

Nice work
