A rare Bracken Kiln nestling in a steep valley near the head of the Longsleddale valley. This was used to reduce Bracken to potash. Potash was used in the wool fulling process in the local mills.

Wow how fascinating, do you know when this dates from?

They have one very similar at St fagans, another thing they have erected there is a potters kiln and this sits right outside the original pottery house, you can also go in and make your own pot to take home (not in the old kiln though ) as you probably guessed!
