Nice one Wayne :-)
(ddlane7, Wayne won't mind me answering your question I'm sure. The Sigma is fine but even better when attached to a Canon)
Lee (hope that helps)

Thank you for the comment Lee, much appreciated.
Now ddlane7 you don't want to go and take any notice of what Lee has to say, He's only jealous because he went and wasted his hard earned cash on a Canon (spit spit) and is trying to justify his mistake of not getting a Nikon.
Seriously though the combination of the Nikon D300 and the Sigma 150-500 have served me well over the last 3 years and I have no complaints with it.
As Lee's signiture say's "Nothing is more certain than actual proof" and the proof is there for everyone to see in my gallery.

I just knew I was setting myself up for a fall as I pressed the 'submit' button. 42 and I still haven't learnt.

Hi ddlane7, I'm not conversant with the Nikon D3100 and therefor not the right person to ask, your best bet is to call into your local camera shop and have a word with them, and if they have a lens in stock ask them if its possible to try it on your camera, there is no substitute for actually trying before buying.
I'm sorry I can't be of more help but I hope you get what your looking for, I'm also looking forward to seeing your images in the gallery, good luck mate.
Wayne.
