The belt of cloud that had threatened to cut out the light turned up up sure enough at Lackford Lakes this evening. This chap was one of a couple of males chasing each other around over one of the ponds, but taking time out to feed too. He suddenly popped up off his perch and hovered right in front of the hide, just long enough for me to grab a couple of shots, albeit only at 1/50s, and even then at ISO800. I reckon I just about got away with it.
