Description: 

A medium sized agaric found in broadleaf woodland on soil, especially with Oak.

Distribution: 

Common from late Summer till Autumn.

Habitat: 

Broadleaf woodland, specifically with Oak.

Cap: 

Convex, later flattened or slightly depressed, reddish-brown or dull cinnamon with concentric bands of spotty darker colour.

Flesh: 

Cap flesh thick and firm, whitish with a buff tinge. Stem flesh stuffed, becoming hollow, whitish.

Gills: 

Slightly decurrent, fairly narrow, crowded, buff or pale brown initially, later a darkish reddish-brown, occasionally with a mauve tinge.

Stem: 

More or less equal, occasionally slightly furrowed, ring absent, concolorous with the cap.becoming hollow.

Additional Notes: 

Inedible.
