Description: 

A large fungus with a shaggy brown cap on a white background found solitary or in scattered groups in gardens, parks and compost heaps.

Distribution: 

Infrewuent from Summer to Autumn.

Habitat: 

In grassland, parks, compost heaps in gardens.

Cap: 

Initially bun-shped then expanded-convex, whitish with shaggy, reddish-brown angular scales,

Flesh: 

Cap flesh white, thin and soft, reddish when cut. Stem flesh is also white, firm and hollow, reddish when cut. 

Gills: 

Free, icrowded, initially whitish or cream, dirty buff with age.

Stem: 

More or less equal, large bulbousbase, whitish discolouring brownish below, thick ring, , whitish, double, superior and moveable.
