This fungus is found in damp conditions in both deciduous and coniferous woodland, often growing in moss. The cap is yellowish-green with irregular lobes and a slight umbo or depression and the cap edges are slightly inrolled. The fungus flesh is slightly slippery to the touch.

Caps are yellow or greenish-yellow, flattened with irregular lobes and an uneven umbo or depression, cap edges are rolled under and inwards, surface slimy on top, smooth underneath. The fertile layer is on the caps upper surface.
Flesh is gelatinous, yellowish-white and has very little taste and has a slightly mouldy smell.
