Description:
A distinctive species with tiny, pointed scales on the cap resembling a hedgehog's spines. Infrequent to rare found in small groups on the dead wood or twigs of deciduous trees especially willow, alder and beech
Additional Notes:
Habitat: On wood, usually small, dead, attached branches of Salix spp. in wet areas such as fen or alder carr, stream banks, pond margins and marshland.
Notes: Occasional but widespread. Basidiomes are small, cryptically coloured and easily overlooked.
