Labiate Belonging to the Labiate family. Often scented and two-lipped. E.g. Woundwort. 
Lacerate (of pores) as though torn away, revealing the tubes like organ pipes
Lageniform (of cystidia) with a neck like extension, shaped like a narrow-necked flask
Lamella A hard plate, sometimes present near the female's mating tube.

Lamellate Possessing gills or lamellae
lamellula a small gill not reaching from the edge of the pileus to the stipe
Lanceolate (of cystidia) elongate & tapering towards both ends, lance-shaped
Lanceolate A narrow and spear-shaped leaf. Much longer than it is wide.
Lanose Having a woolly or wool like texture
Larva The fleshy, wingless young of advanced insects in the stage between egg and pupa.
Lateral (of stem) attached at the side of the cap
Lateral Towards the side, away from the dorsal or ventral midline of the body.
Latex Milky, usually white fluid, exuded by gills of lactarius species when broken or cut
Latex White  fluid within the stem of a plant, such as in the Euphorbia family. The colour and changes in colour of latex can be used for identification purposes.
Lax Open and not dense.
Leaflet Leaf-like part or lobe of leaf.
Lignify To become woody.
Ligulate Strap-shaped
Ligule Flap at the base of a blade of grass where it joins the stem.
Linear Describing a parallel and slender leaf.
Lip Lower part of a flower with irregular petals, such as an Orchid.
Litter The carpet of fallen leaves or needles and other rotting organic matter in broadleaf or coniferous woodland
Lobe One of the divisions of a leaf or petal.
Lobed Leaf with indentations in the margin not reaching the midline (if pinnately lobed) or midpoint (if palmately- lobed; e.g. Round-leaved Crowfoot).
Local Confined to a small geographic area
Locally common Fungi which might be uncommon or rare in the context of the overall geographic region, but which are common in certain small geographic areas
Longitudinal Running from front to back on the body rather than from side to side, as in a colour stripe or a structure.
Lores Small area between the bill and the eye. Adjective - loral.
Lunule A crescent shaped spot on the wing.
