Description: 

A smallish bolete with a whitish cap growing either solitary or in groups on soil with Birch.

Distribution: 

A rare species fruiting from late Summer until early Autumn.

Habitat: 

Woodland with Birch.

Cap: 

Convex, whitish or pale buff, sometimes with a greenish tinge, downy when young, then smooth, matt, cuticle slightly overhanging the margin.

Flesh: 

Cap flesh white, thick and firm, unchanging. Stem flesh firm and fibrous, whitish. No distinctive odour or taste.

Gills: 

Pores white, circular, small, dingy with age. Tubes depressed, concolorous with pores, unchanging.

Stem: 

Slender, equal or slightly swollen towards the base, concolorous with the cap, covered with woolly scales that may turn pale brown.

A rare species.
