| | | Hi to everyone Hi to you all.I am a newbie to WAB and also a newbie to digital photography.I found this site quite by accident whilst looking for information on wildlife photography.I have always been interested in wildlife particularly birds and having just moved to the area last year i visited our local nature reserve last August.Whilst sitting in one of the hides I was fortunate to be able to watch a pair of kingfishers.Up until then all i had seen of these stunning birds was a blue flash.I had my binoculars with me but when I saw the stunning photos the blokes in the hide were taking it made my mind up to take up photography.I was given a Pentax p30 35mm camera and 200mm lens to learn with and have just bought a Pentax K10D.Unfortunately
the 200mm lens will only work in manual mode which is fine providing things stand still and I am now saving up for a Sigma 70-300 lens.I am registered disabled and have mobilty problems but this new hobby has given me a new lease of life.Sitting in beautiful surroundings watching and photographing stunning wildlife makes everydays problems a lot more bearable.Sorry to waffle on I will be sending in some photo`s that will hopefully get better as I learn more about the camera and also i will learn using the invaluble advice given on this website.
Thanks Graham |

Welcome to WAB. I managed to stumble across it too and it's the best stumble I've made.
There are some really excellent photographers that spend a lot of time here so whatever your question, chances are there are going to be 3 or 4 people with professional opinions to share with you.

And the 'harlequin' ladybird is heading your way: http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/fo...ladybirds.html

It is strange you should say that as last year my wife and I saw a hummingbird hawk moth in a village close to us.We only knew what it was as we have spent some time in southern Spain and there was a lot of these moths around.Apparently with the rather strange weather we have been having a lot more exotic animals are making their way north.

It is a wonderfull site with information on anything you want to know about great british wildlife which is very much underrated.I said in one of my last threads that i had spent sometime in southern Spain and although there are some more exotic species in Spain there is not as much variety. One of the things I missed most was the different seasons, autumn winter etc.

Graham | But your Spanish reminiscences would be welcome on the sibling Wild About the World forum - see far bottom lefthand corner I'd welcome comment because I may be in southern Spain next year!
Yes, I agree that having four proper seasons make life always interesting ... on the other hand, it could be that we're losing some of our seasons? | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
